Melissa Eitzen, MS, RQAP-GLP, MT(ASCP) is the Director of Regulatory Operations for the Institutional Office of Regulated Nonclinical Studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. The Regulatory Operations team provides strategic planning for regulatory compliance, quality system development, quality assurance inspections,records management/retention, and education development. Ms. Eitzen has over 30 years of laboratory development,management, equipment validation, regulatory compliance, and course development experience. She is currently serving as the Immediate Past President for SQA and is a member of SQA’s University Specialty Section, Mentoring Program Committee and the annual meeting Program Committee. Ms. Eitzen currently serves as Co-PI, project director and faculty for the Academic Development of a Training Program for GLP in ABSL3/4, a collaborative educational project with the U.S.Department of Health and Human Services Food and Drug Administration for the advancement of MedicalCountermeasures. Ms. Eitzen holds a Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology from the University ofHouston Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She is a Registered Quality Assurance Professional in GLP (RQAP-GLP), a registered Medical Technologist with the American Society of Clinical Pathology, MT(ASCP) and holds graduate certificates in Performance Technology and Distance Education.
